Radiant Day Spa now offers Microneedling! This is an incredible multi-purpose treatment, also called collagen induction therapy (CIT), and percutaneous collagen induction (PCI), targets everything from acne scars to hair loss. Microneedling has become a popular treatment because it uses the body’s own healing capabilities to promote the regeneration of normal healthy tissue. A popular example of this is to vastly reduce the visibility of stretch marks after pregnancy. Additionally you can treat acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, loose skin, skin texture, pore size, brown spots, stretch marks, and pigment issues.
How It Works
The process of microneedling is that a professional technician inserts a pad of short, very fine needles using a small hand-held device called a dermapen into the skin, which begins to trigger the natural regenerative capabilities of your body. These ultra-fine needles penetrate the skin in range of .05 to 2.5 mm. This process promotes the natural production of collagen which then starts to reduce signs of scarring or discoloration for a wide variety of skin conditions.
While this can seem daunting, it is a proven and simple process. We begin by applying a local numbing agent near the treatment area and the needles only penetrate the epidermal layer.
Microneedling also promises improvement over time. According to a 2008 study, skin treated with four microneedling sessions spaced one month apart produced up to a 400% increase in collagen and elastin six months after completing treatment. An additional recent study 100 test subjects were divided into two groups; one set was treated with minoxidil lotion and the other received minoxidil lotion plus microneedling. After 12 weeks, 82 percent of the microneedling group reported 50 percent improvement versus 4.5 percent of the minoxidil lotion-only group.
